Prof. Vatroslav Lopašić, PhD, the late Honorary Member of the Croatian Academy of Engineering, has been an eminent Croatian physicist – a classic of the Croatian physics, scientist, expert and university teacher, who had formed and educated many generations of young engineers and given an immesurable contribution in the sense of establishment of scientific institutions and studies as well as advancement and development of studies of natural and technological sciences in Croatia.
The Croatian Academy of Engineering organized the ceremony of the unveiling of his bust in the courtyard of the House of the Academy in Zagreb on October 17, 2016.
The creation and raising of Professor Vatroslav Lopašić’s bust has been financially supported by the donators – scientific and higher-educational institutions and organizations as well as Croatian companies: Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology in Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb, Faculty of Geodesy in Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering in Zagreb, Faculty of Graphic Arts in Zagreb, Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb, University of Zagreb and KONČAR – Electrical Industry, Inc., Zagreb.
The bust of Professor Vatroslav Lopašić is the work of academic sculptor Borislav Leiner.
Professor Lopašić’s niece Mrs. Ana Tučkar, who had attended the ceremony as a guest of honor and who had also unveiled the bust, President of the Croatian Academy of Engineering Prof. Vladimir Andročec, PhD and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing Prof. Mislav Grgić, PhD, have delivered apposite speeches.
