HATZ participates as a partner in the project ‘Proposal for the deployment of EBSI production nodes and provision of support services to EBSI network at the European level’ (EBSI-NE), which is financed by the European Commission through the DIGITAL Simple Grants program.
The total budget of the project is EUR 7.4 million. 24 partners from 14 European countries participate in the project, including government agencies, public institutions and academia which have an extensive experience related to Distributed Ledger Technologies and past EBSI ecosystem initiatives, including the deployment of pre-production nodes.
The objective of the EBSI-NE consortium is to support the development and adoption of the EBSI network at the European level by increasing the number of validator nodes in the production network and the provision of support services for all relevant EBSI stakeholders. These actions will increase the robustness and maturity of the production network of EBSI, enabling the development of the prioritized EBSI cross-border use cases.
A key benefit of the project is that it will contribute to the objectives of the European blockchain strategy by expanding the pan-European network of public blockchain services, supporting the development of blockchain-related skills and facilitating interaction and collaboration between the public and academic sectors. Specifically, the project will result in 18 new validator nodes in the EBSI production network and 24 entities providing different support services to the EBSI ecosystem across regions. The establishment, deployment, and operation of the new nodes in a unified and coordinated way will enhance the performance, robustness, resilience, security, and sustainability of the production EBSI network by leveraging industry best practices and technical knowledge.
